Around noon, Marcus reported that New Wayne (previously known as Garth) and the barred rock were definitely deceased and a guinea was missing. The rest of the birds were cowering in the relative safety of the coop, including the remaining four guineas.
He spent the afternoon tracking what might be a bobcat to a den down near the creek, where he found parts of the missing guinea. (As he said, tracking in the snow is pretty easy, just follow the trail of bird bits.)
The only silver lining in this whole disaster is that he was able to lock all of the remaining birds in the coop with food and water prior to tonight’s massive temperature dip, which would have probably been bad for the guineas in their stupid tree.
