Perfect pie crust


4 C flour
4 T sugar
1 ts salt
1 C solid vegetable shortening
1 C butter
2 C ice water, mixed with
2 T vinegar


  1. Mix flour, sugar, and salt together with a fork. Rub in shortening and butter with a sharp knife or pastry blender.
  2. Add cold water, one tablespoon at a time, until the mixture comes together, between 12-14 tablespoons.
  3. Chill before use. Brush finished crust edges with milk before baking.
